Camp Pangatian Shrine
A sense of sentimentality and pride awaits when you visit the Cabanatuan American Memorial, a poignant tribute to World War II.
This memorial, located on the site of the former Camp Pangatian, a military training facility that was converted into an imprisonment center for Allied POWs during the Japanese occupation, reflects the fortitude of those who survived the Bataan Death March and the Cabanatuan Prisoner of War camp.
On April 12, 1982, survivors formally dedicated the memorial, which has been maintained by the American Battle Grounds Commission since 1989. It is located eight kilometers north of the city center at Barangay Pangatian, along the Cabanatuan-Palayan route, and serves as a reminder of history’s indelible mark.

Silliman University
The Philippines’ first American school is Silliman University, a private research university in Dumaguete. It was founded in 1901 by the Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions.
