🏺Museo del Seminario Conciliar de Nueva Caceres

The Museo del Seminario Conciliar de Nueva Caceres, located in the central pavilion of the Metropolitan Cathedral Compound, is divided into four exhibit areas.

The Gallery of Bikolano Ecclesiastics showcases memorabilia of prominent Bikolano bishops, old scholastic records, and a directory of the Bikol clergy, providing insight into the region’s rich ecclesiastical education.

The Ecclesiastical Vessel and Artifacts Room displays liturgical items, serving as reminders of past devotions and the Filipino Christian heritage.

The Marian Room features pictures of the canonical coronation of the Virgin of Peñafrancia in 1924 and watercolor paintings of different Marian images venerated in the Archdiocese of Caceres.

The Archaeological Room houses Pre-Christian artifacts from the Bikol Region, including stone tools, burial jars, and ancient relics, with the collection belonging to Mr. Ermelo N. Almeda, a respected archaeologist in Naga City.

The museum was designated a national historical landmark on September 9, 1988, and has transformed from a modest vocation house in the 18th century into a prominent center for ecclesiastical education in the Bicol Region.

⛪Basilica of Our Lady Peñafrancia

In 1710, the original home of Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia was constructed using local materials after Fr. Miguel Robles de Covarrubias introduced the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia to Bicol. The current structure was completed in 1750, and its belfry still houses the bell donated by the wealthy Chinese trader Don Simon Tuangqui during its reconstruction in 1864.

Every year, on the third Saturday and Sunday of September, Naga City in Bicol, Philippines, celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. Bicolanos from all walks of life gather in Naga City to reunite with relatives and partidarios, share food, drinks, and prayers, and above all, to pay homage and express gratitude to the Virgin of Peñafrancia, affectionately called Ina by the Bicolanos. They joyously exclaim “Viva la Virgen” to the heavens in celebration of this cherished tradition.

🏛 Porta Mariae

The Porta Mariae, meaning “Marian Gate” in Latin, is a commemorative arch in Naga City, celebrating the tercentenary of devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia. This grand structure stands impressively with dimensions of 18 meters (59 ft) wide, 4 meters (13 ft) deep, and 11 meters (36 ft) high. Adorned with a striking brass image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, flanked by two angels on each side, the arch also features two small gates in the main portal, accommodating three persons each, and a central portal that can welcome at least eight individuals. Commissioned by the Archdiocese of Cáceres and financed by the Peñafrancia Devotees of Metro Manila Foundation Inc., directed by General Salvador Mison, the arch’s design was created by architect Gian Paolo P. Priela and brought to completion under the guidance of engineer Noriel L. Villar.

On 9th September 2010, Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi blessed and inaugurated the Porta Mariae, solidifying its significance as a profound symbol of devotion and celebration in the city.
